PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

 

Sealed bids will be received from bidders not later than 1:00 P.M. local time May 24, 2018, and will be publicly opened and read at 2.00 P.M. local time, on the same date at the Professional Development Center (PDC) for four prime contracts for (1) General Construction, (2) Plumbing, (3) Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning and (4) Electrical work at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, PA, Project No. 3527, as described in the Drawings and Specifications prepared by Murray Associates Architects, P.C.

 

The Project consists of Additions and Alterations to the Metal Trades Center Project No. 3527.

 

Bidders may purchase bidding documents from Murray Associates Architects, P.C., 1600 North Second Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17102, at a cost of $300 per set (limit 2 sets) or $75 for electronic documents.  Bidding documents will be available beginning at 1:00 A.M. on April 20, 2018. Advertisement of this project is also in the Patriot News and Sun Gazette. Requests for documents to be mailed shall be accompanied by a UPS account number.

 

A mandatory Pre-bidder's Conference will be held at 3:00 P.M., May 8, 2018 at the Professional Development Center (PDC). A site visit will be provided the same day.

 

 

No claims on account of mistakes or omissions in the bid will be considered. If a bidder finds discrepancies or omissions in the contract documents or is in doubt as to their meaning, he shall at once notify the Architect, who will send written instructions to all bidders. Neither the Owner nor the Architect will be responsible for any oral instructions. Bidder shall carefully examine the contract documents, visit the site of the work, and include in his bid a sum to cover the cost of all items included in the contract.

 

Prevailing minimum wages determined in accordance with the Davis Bacon Rates shall be paid to workmen employed on this project.

 

Submit bids on the form provided; fill all blank spaces. State numbers in words and figures; write signatures longhand. The completed form shall be without interlineation, alteration or erasure. Bids shall contain no recapitulation of the work to be done. No telegraphic, FAX, or verbal modifications will be considered. Address bids to Karen Fessler, Pennsylvania College of Technology, General Services Building, Office of Procurement, 2245 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA, 17701, for receipt prior to the date and time set forth above. Bids shall be sealed in an opaque envelope bearing the title of the work, the name of the Owner and the name of the Bidder. Sealed proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud at the Professional Development Center. Directions to campus are indicated on web site www.pct.edu/map/.

 

Deposit as security with each bid a certified check, bank treasurer's or cashier's check or bid bond for at least 10% of the base bid, payable to the Owner. Checks will be returned to all except the 2 lowest bidders within 5 days; and to others when contracts have been executed. The check of the second lowest bidder will be returned within 5 days upon the presentation of an acceptable bid bond. A bidder who fails to execute and deliver the contract within 7 days after receiving notice of award, together with certificates of insurance and bond forms as required, shall forfeit to the Owner, as liquidated damages for such failure, the security deposited with his bid. Bids may not be withdrawn for 30 days after receipt of bids, except as may be provided by law.

 

The competency and responsibility of bidders will be considered in making awards. The Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities or to reject any or all bids.
